Celebrating 4 Years of Wellness!
I am grateful to celebrate four years of personal growth, professional success, and spiritual fulfillment. I am blessed. B. Well, it has been a blessing to me and others—the anniversary of B. Well always allows for reflection. Last year, I wrote the following goals for my third year with B. Well:
"I desire to provide a healthy working environment that allows people to serve the community by doing work they love while feeding themselves, their children, and their children's children. My prayer is not only that B. Well will provide physical nourishment; I hope to feed people mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. This year, I plan to file for a 501-C3 so that B. Well can have a non-profit division that can receive grants and tax-deductible donations to offer our services to those who cannot otherwise afford to attend our workshops. Unfortunately, having a life coach is often afforded to those with disposable income or those who understand the benefits of investing in a coach. Many people could benefit from learning about integrative wellness. I envision the B. Well Foundation serves communities in need and provides scholarships for students from those communities who would like to pursue helping professions. I see miracles ahead."
Here we are, a year later. And I am reading that and laughing! I hope you are, too! Aren't goals a funny thing? They do not account for things that are far out of our control. I had no idea what 2020 had in store for me! Plans were altered, but all was not lost!
During the later part of 2019 and early 2020, I was able to do some amazing things. I moved to a larger office space in September and hired another part-time employee. Two other folks supported the mission, expanded my client base, and started that 501-C3 application. Things were on track….
…and then…
March 16, 2020, was the day COVID-19 hit B. Well. My calendar was full of speaking engagements, professional developments, and coaching sessions for the next 5-months. I scheduled all my family vacations and couples trips around my busy work schedule. I had it all planned. March 16, 2020, was the first day I received a cancelation email. It would be the first of many. None of us knew what COVID-19 would mean for our jobs, families, or communities, and everybody wanted to stay safe. Everything got canceled for everybody. I feared for the sustainability of my business. First, I called my team and told them, "Send me your hours for the week immediately and then stop working." One told me, "Don't worry about paying me. Consider the last two weeks a gift." The other said, "I'd like to continue volunteering with you, Dr. P. I believe in this work." I cried. I had the right people on my team. But what now?
I was so scared because so much was out of my control. By April, I realized that I was paying rent on an office I could not get into (as it was a co-working space, they had to shut the doors to all the businesses), and I would have to move. My sweetheart and I got some boxes, packed up the co-working office, and returned everything to my home office that I had just moved out of 6 months prior. It looked like things were moving in the wrong direction.
BUT! One thing I know for sure is that we experience seasons in life, and nothing (and I mean nothing) is permanent. It took a while for individuals and businesses to adjust, but we all did! All of my coaching clients moved to meeting virtually, and many of them prefer it now. The virtual platform has allowed me to receive clients from anywhere worldwide! I currently have my first international client, and she's fantastic. I have offered facilitation and workshops via Zoom to various groups, and the sessions are effective and quite powerful. I have started building online courses on Teachable and look forward to releasing them soon. I have learned how to make a dollar out of 15 cents in my business. I have learned to apply for grants. I have a better work/life balance now than before and am having a lot of fun. I have discovered that I can count on Adrianne to be resourceful, tenacious, intelligent, trusting of the process, and a damn good ShEO. We gone be alright! (Typing that made me smile!)
So, here we GROW. To keep things moving forward, we need your support. Here are a few ways you can support B. Well:
Write a review! If you have attended any B. Well workshops, professional development, or received individual coaching, please share your experiences. Reviews are essential to our receiving new clients. Your experience with B. Well, it matters! Share it!
Send us a 15 to 30-second video sharing your experience. We'd love to use it on social media.
Share information: If you know of any contracts, grants, or opportunities that align with B. Well, please share. We are always looking for opportunities to serve.
Pray! Add B. Well to your prayers. As a matter of fact, stop right now and send B. Well, a blessing.
Here is to another great year of supporting individuals and organizations in healing themselves and thriving. Here's to another year of "conscious creation through conscious choice." We are doing this ON PURPOSE. B. Well!
Joyfully,
Dr. Adrianne R. Pinkney
