On this day of Gratitude
Today is a day of Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for. As a child, I remember the minister in church telling us to “count it all joy.” I never understood what that meant until I learned that everything, and I mean everything, is working for my good. I have learned to look over my life experiences and the things I deemed as ‘good’ and things I judged as ‘bad’ and say, “Thank you.”
Take a moment to look over this year and say “Thank you” for everything.
If you lost a loved one this year, take a moment to say “Thank you” for their life. Be grateful for the memories and the lessons that you learned. Be thankful that they were part of your life’s journey. Be grateful that they allowed you to understand love… and loss. Just say, “Thank you.”
Did you experience heartbreak this year? Think of your most loving and intimate moment with that person and say “Thank you” for that moment. Say “Thank you” for them coming into your life so you could experience such a beautiful moment. For the moments that were not so good, also be grateful. What did these experiences teach you about yourself? Did you have poor boundaries? Were you vulnerable? Were you unclear about your expectations? Do you like how you showed up? Say “Thank you” for the love, and be excited to love again.
How were your finances this year? Did you have “enough?” Look around, check out everything in your view, and say “Thank you” for it. Wherever you are reading this, in the bed, on the couch, waiting to board a plane, find something within your vision and be grateful. It might sound like, “I’m grateful for this comfy chair that gives me rest,” “I’m grateful for my children who offer me precious moments of love and joy,” or “I am grateful for these socks that feel perfect on my toes.” Just give thanks.
It is important to be thankful for the past, the present, and the future! Yes! We can be grateful for things that have not occurred yet. This is how we speak things into existence. Many people believe God created the entire world through speaking. God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Imagine what happens when you use your words to be grateful for things that you expect to happen. Try a few sentences and see how it feels:
I am grateful for improved physical health.
Thank you for financial blessings and miracles.
My heart is healing, and I am grateful.
Thank you for my beautiful and loving partner. I’m so excited they are on the way!
Open your heart to be grateful for all experiences, thoughts, and things. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I will take this time to say I am so thankful for you. I am grateful for your life and all of your contributions. I am thankful for your support of my work. I am pleased that you chose to trust me. God bless you, and thank you.
In gratitude,
