B. Well Celebrates Two Years!
B. Well: Live Consciously is marking a significant milestone—two years of coaching excellence! This journey has been a testament to our shared commitment, and I am deeply grateful. As we stand at this juncture, it’s a moment to reflect on our humble beginnings and our strides. Let's take a quick trip down memory lane…
2016, on July 4th weekend, I rented a beach house to celebrate my 30th birthday with my friends and family. Although I had just been laid off, I decided to celebrate this milestone birthday anyway. Between playing in the sand and eating big family meals, I held focus groups with my guests about my ideas for “this life coaching business I was starting.” We thought about what types of services I should offer. We discussed corporate coaching, individual coaching, and retreats. I showed them the logo and received feedback on how to improve it. I shared the overall goals of my business, and we worked together to create a mission and vision statement that captured these ideals. Lastly, I asked, “How much would you seriously pay to work with a life coach?” their answers helped develop my pricing. It was this weekend that the blueprint for B. Well Coaching services was formed.
For the last two years, I have purported that B. Well offers wellness retreats, but I have not yet hosted one. I knew I would eventually provide the service, so I googled the word "retreat", found some generic photos, and added a page about B. Well retreats on our website. This February, I began to advertise the first Wellness Weekend. I was thrilled. I marketed the event on Facebook, Eventbrite, at wellness fairs, and through word-of-mouth. Month after month went by, and no one signed up. It was clear that if I did not cancel this event, I would lose money (I had already rented the beach house); but, something told me to do it anyway (and I've learned to listen to that "something")...so I did. In a month, women registered, folks offered to volunteer, the lady who owned the beach house gave me lots of free extras, and little miracles kept coming. I was back in Carolina Beach two years later, hosting the first Well Woman Weekend at the same beach house where I formed my business. It was a fantastic experience. We talked. We connected. We cried. We healed. The Well Woman Weekend was a success! It was more than I could have dreamed. One woman who attended the retreat wrote, “This retreat was a powerful experience. I learned so much about myself - not only by telling my story but also by hearing my sisters' stories. I left the retreat full, focused, and empowered to continue my process. I met some great women to whom I look forward to staying connected.” We did the work...and now B. Well: Live Consciously offers all of the services advertised on the website! I am looking forward to changing the generic photos on the "retreat" page to these photos from this fantastic weekend. Click here to check out a few pictures from our time at the beach.
On the last day of the retreat, we cleaned the house and prepared for our farewell. I wanted to ensure I did not leave anything behind, so I opened all the drawers to ensure they were empty. When I pulled open a drawer in the living room, I was shocked to find the first B. Well, a business card was created to have my friends and family evaluate during my focus group from two years ago. It was another miracle. I could see how much I had learned (my first card didn't even have my name on it! What was I thinking?!), and I celebrated myself for my growth. I'm doing it. How cool.
So what’s coming next?
As I transition to working for B. Well full-time, I am excited about the future. I would be grateful for your ongoing support in spreading the word about our services. Consider inviting us to your office for professional development, hosting us at your church for group coaching, or simply sharing our work with your friends. This could also be the perfect time to explore individual coaching for yourself!
We are honored to serve you, and thank you for your love and for being part of this journey. Here’s to year two!
In amazement,
